Although there may not be a large stadium or arena, there are many small independent venues where you can watch a huge selection of live music. I’m always on the lookout for new music, so I thought I would compile a list of venues so you can support our live music scene too.
Charter Hall is the main venue in Colchester for stand-up comedy and large tribute bands to perform. Recent visitors have included Roy 'Chubby' Brown and other high-class acts. Although some performers are not to everyone's taste, the hall itself is well-equipped with padded seats and designed acoustics. Staff are always helpful and parking is ample, although you now have to pay to park. In all, a great theatre-style venue located on Colchester Leisure World Colchester CO1 1YH.
Colchester Jazz Club is a great place for the fans of sophisticated Jazz in a relaxed and luxurious setting, Colchester Jazz club is the place for you. Located on Old London Road, Marks Tey, Colchester, CO6 1EJ, Colchester Jazz Club hosts Traditional Jazz every Sunday Evening. I have seen some of the greatest musicians and bands in the UK and Europe here and always promises to be a great night. Upcoming acts The Muskrat Ramblers and Matt Palmers Eagle Jazz Band are sure to bring the spirit of fine New Orleans Jazz to the streets of Colchester.
Located at 63 High St, Colchester CO1 1DN, Coda is a small music venue that has recieved so many great reviews across the board. If you are looking for a small pub/venue that has regular live music at affordable places then this is the best place to go in the city. They are well connected within the music scene and host a wide range of genres as well as an open mic night on Sundays.
